The Thrive Fitness team is made up of owner Michel Glendinning and Sarah Milne. Here in their own words they describe their health and fitness experience and approaches to personal training.
Michel Glendinning - Owner & Personal Trainer
I am a fully qualified personal
trainer and affiliated with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
Plus, as a qualified ski instructor who has worked in France, Italy and Canada, I offer specialist ski fitness programmes for those who want to get more out of their ski holidays. And as a former county and regional level runner, I offer personalised running workouts, ideal if you're in training for an event or just fancy a more intense cardio workout.
It is all well and good talking about my credentials, but they're useless unless I can see things from your perspective and tailor programmes to suit you. So that's what I do.
Firstly, I've been a client myself so I'm aware of the challenges of fitting training into a demanding work life. That's why I create workouts that fit into your lifestyle - not the other way round.
Furthermore, I know what it's like to need to lose weight and you can't do it by starving yourself or hating what you eat. Which is why I offer nutritional advice and analysis that will not only optimise your training results but still be tasty at the same time.
I believe in a good balance in life - with exercise as a way to keep your body healthy whilst still being able to enjoy what you enjoy.
Sarah Milne - Personal Trainer
I have a wealth of experience in sport ranging from representing my school and county in swimming and netball, to coaching horse riding and Tae Kwon Do and competing in long distance running races. My advanced personal trainer qualification and affiliation with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) builds upon this expertise and my commitment is to enable others to improve their general wellbeing and enjoy the benefits of health and fitness.
With 10 years working in the demanding world of trading desks in investment banking and as a mother of two young children, I appreciate the time constraints a hectic working life and parenting can have on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I also recognise the value of keeping strong and fit during and after pregnancy both physically and mentally.
With a focus on cardio (especially running) and strength training, including pilates, yoga and traditional weigh training I can also advise on nutrition to build holistic and realistic programmes that suit each individual's circumstances.
